Lobbyist Code and Information Meeting - Hosted by Councilwoman Kathleen Murphy

Lobbyist Code and Information Meeting
Thursday, August 25, 5pm in the Metro Council Committee Rooms (2nd Floor of the Historic Courthouse)
A few housekeeping requests to the lobbyist code have been requested. Also there has been some questions and confusion lately in regards to requirements, such as who is a lobbyist, what constitutes lobbying, and who should be registering as a lobbyist and submitting reports to the Clerk. While all of this is in the code and documents put together by the Clerk and Ethics Commissions, it can be tricky at times.
The Council's Attorneys, the Metro Clerk, and I will go over the basics of the current Metro Lobbying Code, answer questions and take suggestions for revisions, additions, and subtractions to the code. I was the sponsor of the latest update and revision of this portion of the Metro Code at the beginning of this council term in 2019/2020. It had not been substantially updated since it was first passed in the early 1990s. Learn more about the current requirements here.
